Kash is Not Money for the U.S.

Trump’s had a few notable picks for various departments. Hegseth off to defense, RFK Jr. off to questionably serve American healthcare. Although these were already pretty controversial picks to begin with, the ante of ridiculousness hasn’t filed yet. Especially when Kash Patel, children’s book writer, was just confirmed as the brand new head of the FBI (Federal Bureau of Investigation) to an extremely close 51-49 vote by the Senate.

Who is Kash Patel?

Kashyap Pramod Vinod Patel was born on February 25th, 1980 and before his new position as an FBI director, he served as a federal prosecutor and the acting head of the bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, and Firearms (ATF). His initial pick wasn’t much surprising to begin with - he’s been extremely close to Trump solidifying his place in the Republican party as an extreme MAGA member. He communicated this in his children’s book: “The Plot Against The King” .

Guess who “The King” is?

The plot is self-explanatory with multiple kid-friendly depictions of a blue adversary cheating in a monarchy election with a certain Trump cementing his rightful rule over a kingdom happy to welcome him. The true embodiment of an American Democracy, definitely nothing wrong.

What are some of his policies, what can we expect from him?

His policies are consistent with other celebrities like Lee Zeldin (EPA Director) and Representative GA-R Majorie Taylor Greene in that it consists of heavy MAGA propaganda and power radical policy.

Earlier this year, Kash promoted a branch of “anti-covid vaccination” pills that would reduce or lessen the effects of the Covid-19 vaccine. On Truth Social, Kash appropriately explained “Spike the Vax, order this homerun kit to rid your body of the harms of the vax”. This is just one of many examples portraying Patel’s skepticism and radicalism.

Kash Patel’s proposed policies for the FBI represent a dramatic restructuring of the bureau, rooted in his longstanding criticisms of the agency and the broader intelligence community. Specifically, the decentralization of the FBI headquarters. He has suggested shutting down the J. Edgar Hoover Building and redistributing its 7,000 employees across the country to focus on direct law enforcement work.

He argues that this move would prevent “institutional capture” and curb political bias within FBI leadership. However, dismantling the headquarters would present significant logistical challenges, as the FBI relies on a centralized base for coordination. Dispersing personnel across different locations could create operational inefficiencies and hinder the agency’s ability to handle national security threats effectively.

Furthermore, another key policy is that Patel wants to institute holding government officials and media figures accountable for what he perceives as political conspiracies. He has expressed a desire to take legal or civil action against individuals he claims misled the public or engaged in efforts to undermine former President Trump. His rhetoric suggests he may seek to reverse Justice Department policies that protect journalists from government overreach in leak investigations. However, such an approach would likely face legal challenges, as targeting political opponents or the press could raise serious First Amendment concerns and accusations of authoritarianism.

Surveillance reform is also central to Patel’s agenda, particularly his opposition to the Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Act (FISA) and its Section 702 provision, which allows warrantless surveillance of foreign individuals. While he acknowledges the necessity of surveillance tools for national security, he has criticized what he sees as FBI abuses of its powers, including improper searches of Americans’ data. His stance aligns with both civil libertarians and Trump supporters who have raised concerns about intelligence overreach. However, intelligence officials argue that restricting FISA’s powers could weaken national security efforts, making it more difficult to track terrorists and foreign spies.

Hindus and Indian-Americans alike admire him for his position and finally bringing diversity into a racially-dominated field. Representation should never come at the cost for our nation’s democracy and security.
